SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada) is a non-profit organization based in Canada that advocates for the rights and interests of music producers and publishers. SOCAN manages its members' performing rights by collecting and distributing royalties from public performances of their music. Music played on television, radio, in live performances, and via online streaming platforms is included. SOCAN also permits the use of music in a variety of settings, including enterprises, restaurants, and public venues. The association was created in 1990 and now represents over 175,000 Canadian and international music creators and publishers.
