The American Motors Corporation (AMC) was an American automobile manufacturing company formed through the merger of Hudson Motor Car Company and Nash-Kelvinator Corporation in 1954. The merger was an attempt to create a stronger competitor against the “Big Three” automakers of the time: General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler.
