Slovakia flag consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width, with the colors white, blue, and red from top to bottom. Peace (white), vigilance and loyalty (blue), and heroism (red) are represented by this tricolor pattern. It was formally adopted on September 1, 1992, when Slovakia gained independence after the peaceful disintegration of Czechoslovakia. When Slovakia was a part of Czechoslovakia, it had a separate flag.
